Two Sisters From Kerala Found Dead in Kanyakumari
Police continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a heartbreaking incident, two sisters from Kottayam, Kerala, who had been living in the United States, died by suicide after reportedly jumping into the sea at Vavathurai, Kanyakumari on April 26.
The deceased have been identified as Annie Philip,35, and Meera Philip, 32, natives of Kidangoor in Kottayam district. Their parents, Philip and Mary, along with another sister, Elizabeth, were informed after the women sent messages resembling suicide notes on the day of the incident.
According to police, the sisters checked into a seaside hotel on April 24 after arriving from Rameswaram. CCTV footage later showed them walking along the Vavathurai pier on April 26, but they never returned to their hotel. Hotel staff, noticing their absence, contacted the family using the numbers provided at the reception.
Following the family's alert, Tamil Nadu police registered a missing complaint and launched a probe. On Thursday, the sisters' bodies washed ashore at Vavathurai. Both women had been settled in Austin, Texas.
The bodies have been sent to Asaripallam Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination.
This tragic incident has left the local community in shock, with police continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
