Man dies, wife suffers serious injuries after a massive tree falls on them at Bollarum

Hyderabad: In a freak mishap, evender, a resident of Tumkunta in Hyderabad, succumbed after a massive tree, supposedly weakened due to the recent rains, fell on him on Tuesday morning.

He and his wife were on their way to Cantonment Hospital in Bollarum. They were travelling on a two-wheeler when the unexpected happened, a massive tree suddenly came crashing down on them.

Devender was killed instantly and his wife suffered serious injuries. She was in a shock and was rushed to the hospital alone.

Inspector Srinivas Ch of the Bollarum Police said "During the rainy season, such incidents are unpredictable. There’s no evidence of negligence," he stated, emphasizing the freak nature of the mishap.

However, the locals tell a different story. For weeks, they had noticed the tree leaning precariously, its roots loosening with each downpour. "If the authorities had acted sooner, Devender would still be with us”.
