Mild Tension Over Transportation of Bulls in Old City
Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed in Old City on Sunday after alleged cow vigilantes reportedly informed south zone police that two cattle were being illegally transported in a mini-truck to a slaughter house for Bakrid from Karvan towards Tadbund.
After the police reportedly detained two persons for transporting cattle in a truck illegally, there was a heated argument between the AIMIM supporters, who were backing the transporters, and cow vigilantes, in presence of local police, police sources disclosed.
According to the police, the cattle were being transported from Shaniyath Gunj towards Tadbund via Karwan when one of the group restricted the truck from passing at Karvan-Tadbund road and informed the local police.
On being informed about the incident, a senior AIMIM leader reportedly instructed AIMIM MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig, AIMIM corporator for Ramnaspura division Mohd Khader and others to visit the scene and resolve the matter, the police sources disclosed.
The AIMIM leaders reached the scene and protested against the injustice of the police and claimed that some people posing as cow vigilantes misguided the police by giving false information. They claimed that the trucks were transporting bulls and not cows and demanded immediate release of their followers and the truck.
Additional police reached the scene and took control over the situation by dispersing the protesters and cow vigilantes, and later released the transporters along with the truck, police sources disclosed.
According to a senior police officer, there was a misunderstanding, which was resolved by the police station staff and no case has been booked.
