No Sparsha Darshanam for 5 Days During Kartika Masam in Srisailam

Kurnool: In anticipation of the heavy footfalls during the month-long Sravana Masam starting from August 5, the Srisailam Devasthanam authorities have announced the cancellation of Sparsha Darshanam for 5 days.

They have also announced the suspension of Arjitha Sevas such as Garbhalayam Abhishekams, Samuhika Abhishekam and Kumkumarchana for 16 days.

Devotees prefer to visit the temple on auspicious days like Ekadashi, Varalakshmi Vratam, Sravana Pournami etc. Sparsha Darshanam is permitted on all days except for five specific days across four phases.

On Monday, temple executive officer D Peddiraju chaired a review meeting to finalise arrangements for the festive season.

Additionally, for the first time, the temple officials will distribute free sarees along with traditional Pasupu Kumkuma to 3,000 married women participating in the Varalakshmi Vratam, which would occur twice during this traditional festival month.

The authorities anticipate nearly 20 lakh devotees to visit the temple during the Sravana Masam, with higher numbers expected on weekends. To ensure their convenience, the temple will organise queues, provide anna daanam, ensure water supply, electrify the ghat roads, and set up cloakrooms, chappal stands, toilets, and temporary dressing rooms. Parking lots around the temple are also being readied.

The town of Srisailam is adorned with arches to welcome pilgrims. Bathing ghats at Pathalganga will have lights and showers for holy baths. Special queue lines with barricades will be arranged inside the temple premises.

In addition to these, the temple plans to host an Akhanda Shiva Bhajan from August 5 to Sept 4. Free Samuhika Varalakshmi Vratam will be conducted on the second Friday (August 16) and fourth Friday (August 30).
