Officers Serving Over 3 Years at Same Positions to be Shunted

Hyderabad: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday directed transport commissioner Buddha Prakash to transfer officers who were occupying the same post for more than three years. A source mentioned that there are several officers who are sticking to same positions for as many as 10 years.

Emphasizing on safety of school buses, the minister said there are around 25,000 school buses in the state out of which 20,000 have cleared fitness testes while 5,000 are pending. Ponnam instructed officials to convince school managements to scrap buses that have rolled for 15 years.

A major point of discussion was the present transport portal which is maintained by CMS, a private company, whereas several other states are opting for Parivahan Sewa, a portal maintained by the ministry of road transport and highway, government of India.

Ponnam gave directions to officials of various districts, who have under-registered in relation to quarterly tax collection, to improve their performance. He congratulated those who collected 100 per cent tax.

He promised to discuss with the Chief Minister to do a land search for their own buildings for the offices of the transport department which are running from private buildings. Officials were also advised to find ways to increase revenue.
