Panyam ex-MLA Admits Party's Mistakes Led to Defeat

Kurnool: Panyam legislator and YSR Congress senior leader Katasani Rambhupal Reddy commented that they were not defeated by anyone, but their own mistakes led to their defeat in the recent elections.

His comments during a recent press meet have gone viral on social media. He disclosed that top leaders of the YSRCP did not listen to their suggestions, despite being warned about the public resistance to the Land Titling Act and other issues.

Katasani said there were widespread fears among common people that the government would acquire land from farmers and others who owned land through the land titling Act, and this highly impacted polling.

He also said some women expressed their fears during their election campaign despite efforts to convince them. He said no one defeated them; it was their own mistakes that led to their defeat in the elections.

Sand and liquor policies also had a negative impact, ultimately making people vote for the Telugu Desam Party. He said if they had assured free bus travel for women and a waiver of at least Rs1 lakh in farm loans, the situation would have been different.

Even though these suggestions were made to the party high command, there was no proper response, and the situation got completely reversed in the elections, he lamented.

He said people who enjoyed welfare schemes and other programmes during their tenure finally voted for the other party, which was only because of their internal mistakes that failed to garner support from the people.
