Sensory Boost for Vizag Students

Visakhapatnam: Bhavit Vidya Kendra is embarking on a new journey to enhance the educational experience for special needs students through sensory gardens and vibrant fountains.

This initiative, launched by Vijaya Bhaskar, regional joint director of school education, Visakhapatnam, aims to stimulate mental development by engaging students' senses.

Speaking at the event here on Wednesday, where he also participated in a tree-planting ceremony, Bhaskar emphasized the importance of sensory stimulation in mental development. "The introduction of flower and medicinal plants in these centres is not just about aesthetics but about creating an environment that fosters mental growth," he remarked.

AP state ID coordinator Shaila Kalpana underscored the critical role of environmental protection in this initiative. She highlighted the significant contribution of trees to the environment, noting that a tree grown for three years can produce one ton of oxygen annually. "Planting at least ten plants per person can make a substantial difference in cooling our climate," she said, calling on the community to actively participate in increasing green cover.

District Educational Officer L. Chandrakala also stressed the communal responsibility toward environmental conservation. "It's our collective duty to protect the environment. By involving every student in planting saplings, we instill a sense of responsibility and awareness about environmental stewardship," she said.

Students took an active role in planting flowers and medicinal plants, symbolizing the inclusive nature of the initiative. These gardens, combined with mind-blowing fountains, are envisioned to be a sanctuary of learning and relaxation, offering a therapeutic environment for students.
