Sexual Abuse Case: Prajwal Revanna in SIT Custody for a Week

Bengaluru: The 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bengaluru on Friday remanded rape accused Lok Sabha member Prajwal Revanna to the custody of Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Criminal Investigation Department investigating the rape, series of exploitation of women among others charges against him.

The accused MP will remain in SIT custody till June 6 and he has been permitted to meet advocates representing in the case daily for an hour. The SIT appealed to the Court for 10-day custody of the accused.

In the early hours of Friday, Prajwal Revanna flew from Munich International Airport of Germany and landed at Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL), Devanahalli near Bengaluru city. He had fled the country on April 27 this year after allegations of his alleged involvement in rape, series of sexual exploitation of women surfaced. Some videos were circulated in public domain on mobile phones alleged to have obscene videos involving Prajwal belonging to Janata Dal Secular (JDS).

Arun, advocate representing Prajwal, in the case told reporters that the arrest of Prajwal is over a complaint lodged by a woman in Holenarsipura Town police station in Hassan district wherein she alleged rape by Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna who represents Hassan in Lok Sabha.

Over the arrest, Arun said the arrest of Prajwal has been done as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) by the sleuths of SIT. On his arrival at the airport, Prajwal was detained first by officials concerned of Immigration Centre and later handed him over to the SIT sleuths.

“I met Prajwal who is in SIT custody and he has assured to cooperate with the SIT in the investigation,” said the advocate and added that Prajwal is giving fullest cooperation in the investigation. Arun said he has told Prajwal on how the Court procedure works.

Earlier, in the day the sleuths of SIT conducted medical examination of Prajwal at Bowing Hospital in Bengaluru city before he was produced before the Court.
