Chennai: There is nothing like ‘Cyber Arrest’ and anyone who claims to cyber arrest is definitely a fraudster. Immediately report to the Police. Don’t be intimidated by fraudsters.’ This was one of the many messages that emanated from the one day Cyber Crime Review meeting and training program, inaugurated by Shankar Jiwal, Director General of Police and Head of Police Force.
Held at the Tamil Nadu Police Headquarters on Wednesday, the programme included review of Cyber Crime Cases by Sandeep Mittal, Additional Director General of Police, who issued general guidelines on Investigation to all the officers in Cyber Crime Wing.
The Director General of Police advised the police to take up investigation in an effective manner that facilitated the arrest of culprits and to ensure the refund of the lost amount to the public at the earliest.
Guest speakers from the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) and Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre in New Delhi shared their initiatives on various platforms to the participants who were ASPs and Inspectors from all Cyber Crime Police Stations in Tamil Nadu.
The officers were encouraged to create awareness among the public through awareness programs, cyber clubs and cyber volunteers. A training session was conducted by a team from Department of Telecommunications that imparts awareness on various features and facilities such as Digital Intelligence Platform, ASTR, Sanchar Saathi portal which includes CEIR, Chakshu and Know Your Mobile.
The key message from the proceeding was: ‘If you suspect that you have been a victim of any suspicious cybercrime activity, report the incident by dialing Cyber Crime Toll free Helpline No 1930 or register a complaint at www.cybercrime.gov.in’
