Did Seeman seek Rajni’s advice on a BJP tie-up?
Chennai:Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman, who came under a barrage of attack in social media for calling on superstar Rajinikanth after having abused him earlier, is said to have actually sought advice on joining hands with the BJP in the next elections as he was unable to prevent the large scale migration of cadre to the new Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) of actor Vijay.
While the Tamil social media launched a vituperative attack on Seeman on Saturday by reproducing old videos of him berating against Rajinikanth and asking him how he could reconcile to the idea of ‘outsider,’ a label that he himself had given the superstar, the rumour mills started whirring on his exploring the possibility of joining hands with the BJP at the Thursday night meeting in Poes Garden.
Since his party had not won a single election since 2016 when it started contesting elections in the State with a vow to only go it alone in the polls, Seeman is said to be worried about his political future and started looking for possible allies. Given his strident Tamil nationalist stand, inconsistent positions and acrimonious speeches, no political party wanted to align with the NTK, it is learnt.
When Vijay launched his party, a hopeful Seeman cheered him for his bold venture but turned against him after his moves to latch on to the new party was spurned. Then, as the new party started attracting the NTK cadre with some incidents of Seeman openly spewing venom on members accentuating the situation, he met Rajinikanth.
The meeting primarily was to seek Rajinikanth’s guidance on the future course of action for the NTK and Seeman is said to have asked if the party’s prospects would improve by striking an alliance with the BJP since both the parties shared a hatred for the DMK. He is said to believe that through that alliance he might be able to win a few seats that would remove the stigma of being a complete loser and prevent disillusioned cadre from looking for prospects elsewhere.
Though it is not clear as to what Rajinikanth’s advice was, Tamil YouTube channels went for Seeman’s jocular, trolling him for his political somersaults and open turncoat moments with one channel even listing out the pro-BJP stands taken by him in the past to drive home the point that he was always a supporter of the BJP.
Among the instances recalled were Seeman vehemently supporting a former State BJP leader, K T Raghavan, when he was caught in a sex scandal exposed through a sting operation, forcing his ouster from the party, and Seeman opposing the incarceration of actress Kasthuri for speaking ill of women belonging to a linguistic community recently.
Regular detractors of Seeman in YouTube like Vijayalakshmi, who claims to be his first wife, too, accused him of going with a begging bowl to Rajinikant after failing to get any alms from Vijay.
