DMK Launches Attack on AIADMK-BJP Alliance
DMK MP criticizes Palaniswami’s silence, questions BJP’s commitment to Tamil interests.

Chennai: Describing the AIADMK’s alliance with the BJP as a betrayal of the people of Tamil Nadu, DMK deputy general secretary and MP, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi regretted that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami was not even allowed to speak in the press conference that was dominated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday.
Speaking to the media at Anna Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters in Chennai, Kanimozhi said that Palaniswami who had opposed many Bills and schemes brought in by the Union Government was sitting silently on the stage with Amit Shah, endorsing the alliance.
Debunking the BJP’s claim that it was working for the welfare of Tamil, she wondered how it could be possible when the amount spent for the development of Sanskrit in India was Rs 2400 crore and the allocation for the growth of Tamil was just Rs 100 crore.
The BJP’s idea of intimidating Tamil Nadu Government as it had been doing in other State ruled by parties other than the BJP would never work, Kanimozhi warned the Union Government, pointing out that of all the cases filed by the various agencies against 95 per cent of the opposition leaders only two percent had been proved to be true.
Asked about Amit Shah’s assurance to discuss the issue relating to NEET with the DMK government, she asked why it was done earlier, particularly when the AIADMK was in power, and urged them to go ahead and announce it now.
While the normal practice was for the leader of the alliance to announce the electoral tie-up, the BJP declaring it was not in sync with accepted norms, she pointed out stressing on the silence maintained by Palaniswami.
Chief Minister M K Stalin had been averring that the BJP and AIADMK was in a secret relationship and that their alliance could be revived any time, she recalled and said that it had now been proved right by the tie-up.
