Hotels, Clubs Warned Against Violating Prohibition Rules
‘No liquor shall be sold, supplied, issued, or served to any person below the age of 21 years.

Chennai: Committed to creating a drug-free, healthy, and socially responsible environment across the State, the TVK government under C Joseph Vijay warned hotels and resorts holding FL3 license and recreational clubs holding FL2 license against serving liquor in their premises in violation of the provisions of the Prohibition Act.
‘No liquor shall be sold, supplied, issued, or served to any person below the age of 21 years. In cases where the age of a person is doubtful, valid documentary proof of age shall be verified before serving liquor,’ a statement from the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise said on Thursday.
Besides ordering the strict adherence to prescribed working hours in the FL2 and FL3 bars without any deviation, the Commissioner urged all FL2 licensed clubs to issue membership identity cards to their registered members and serve liquor only to registered members and their eligible guests.
In FL2 licensed clubs, the operation of a bar shall remain only one of the permitted activities and club managements should ensure that other recreational, cultural, sports, and social activities for which the club was established were conducted regularly and effectively, the Commissioner said.
Directing all license holders to ensure strict compliance with the above instructions, the Commissioner said that any violation of the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937, the rules framed thereunder, and the licence conditions would be viewed seriously and attract appropriate action under the relevant statutory provisions.
