Speaking as the chief guest at the 75th Annual Day celebrations of Bala Mandir Schools, he said: ‘The aim of the educational institutions in TN should be to improve the quality of education imparted by them, to bring the State back into the top ranking, which seems to have slipped a bit,”

The diamond jubilee is being celebrated with the theme “Every Child Matters” keeping in context the current demographics of the state and the country, and the Bala Mandir Schools have plans for growing the social impact of the schools in a big way.

Santhanam witnessed a variety of cultural programs presented by the children of the schools run by the Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust and presented achievement awards to students.

The Bala Mandir Schools, started in the 1950s initially to support the children of the Bala Mandir Home, later admitted children from the nearby socio-economically backward classes. They started as Tamil medium schools aided by the Government and grew over time to a full-fledged school from pre-KG to Standard XII.
