Making Modi bow before Constitution was our 41st victory: MK Stalin

Chennai: When those who were desperate to change the India Constitution were compelled to bow before the sanctified document prepared by B R Ambedkar for the nation it was the 41st victory for the DMK and its allies that had already won all the 40 seats in the State and neighbouring Puducherry in the Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Saturday.

Addressing a massive crowd that had congregated at the Codissia grounds in Coimbatore for the DMK’s Mupperum Vizha (Triple Celebration), Stalin recalled M Karunanidhi, in 2004, describing as the 41st victory the then Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa giving up on some anti-people programmes following the DMK and allies winning all the 40 Lok Sabha seats.

Giving a clarion call to his cadre to turn the celebration in Coimbatore into a foundation for building an overwhelming victory in the 2026 Assembly elections, in which the DMK and allies should triumph in more than 200 of the 234 seats in the seat and pave the way for the continuous victory in future.

Recalling his earlier visit to Coimbatore, in which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demolished the entire illusion created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through his eight visits to the State, through a single sweet box.

Attributing the continuous victories of the INDIA coalition in the State in successive elections to the unity of the alliance partners, Stalin said that the BJP conspired to break the alliance by spreading rumours that they would not remain together.

The BJP also unleashed the I-T, ED and CBI on the opposition leaders to prevent them from coming together but failed in its mission, which had led to a situation in which 237 MPs in Lok Sabha would be opposed to the Government as against its 240 MPs in favour of it.

Referring to some people openly asking what the 40 members would do and adding mockingly that they would be dining at the Parliament canteen after the results were out, he said those were the politically ignorant people who did not know how democracy functioned.

Elaborating in it, he said that their MPs, in the past five years, had raised 9,695 questions in Parliament, participated in 1,949 debates and moved 59 private member bills. He asked the newly elected MPs to be grateful to the people who voted for them and urged them to speak for them in Parliament.

Also it was the MPs from the State who exposed the BJP’s policy violations, gave voice for social justice, paved the way on which the national politics should continue, he said, appealing to prevent the BJP from pursuing is fascist agenda and also make exemplary speeches in the House that would set the agenda for the nation. Their performance in the House should be like the great leaders like C N Annadurai, E V K Sampath, Nanjil Manoharan and Murasoli Maran, whose addresses were still being spoken about, he said.

Taking a swipe at AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami who was hoping to change the government in Tamil Nadu after the Lok Sabha elections by telling people that there were only 24 New Moon days left, he said that of the 234 Assembly segments falling under the 39 Lok Sabha seats in the State, the DMK and allies had emerged victorious in 221 seats, he said. The coming Vikravandi by-election would also add another feather to the DMK’s decorated cap, he added.
