New BJP TN chief for decent politics
Newly appointed State president of the BJP, Nainar Nagendran, said that he wanted to play politics in the civilized manner even if the coalition scene keeps shifting with several factors operating in politics itself.

Chennai:Newly appointed State president of the BJP, Nainar Nagendran, said that he wanted to play politics in the civilized manner even if the coalition scene keeps shifting with several factors operating in politics itself.
Nainar Nagendran, who landed in Chennai airport on Monday from Thoothukudi to attend the ongoing Assembly session, told the media that nothing was amiss in the formation of the alliance with the AIADMK a few days back.
Asked about AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami’s apparent silence over the alliance when he said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had now completed the negotiations for the tie-up of the Assembly elections and would work on it when the elections come about.
He dispelled the rumours that Palaniswami was not happy about the developments at Hotel ITC Grand Chola, where he did not utter a word when the alliance was announced by Amit Shah in his presence, by recalling the event that happened subsequent to the press conference.
Suggesting that there was no lack of bonhomie between the BJP and AIADMK leaders, Nagendran said that Amit Shah and other functionaries of the BJP, including him, went straight to Palaniswami’s house for dinner from the hotel.
At Palaniswami’s house, many AIADMK leaders like K P Munusamy and S P Velumani were present and everything went on well, he said, adding that the two parties would work together during the elections. However, he did not directly answer the question if rumours that Palaniswami was forced into the alliance were true or not.
On his predecessor K Annamalai, he said that he was a big asset for the BJP and nobody could expel him from the party. That, perhaps, was to dispel the speculation of Annamalai, too, sulking over Amit Shah striking a coalition with the AIADMK.
Down the line in the AIADMK, leaders expressed resentment over the alliance. At a meeting in Tirupur, former MLA Gunasekaran told functionaries not to abandon the party just because it had entered into an alliance with the BJP. If they felt uneasy over casting their vote for the BJP, they could very much vote for the AIADMK, he said in a video that went viral on social media.
