Pongal Holidays: No Registration Services at 100 Offices on Jan 18 in Tamil Nadu
Chennai: The State Registration department has exempted 100 sub-registrar offices from working on Saturday, January 18, as the State government had already declared a holiday for Friday, January 17, to government staff, school and college teachers and students to enable them avail a long holiday for Pongal from Tuesday, January 14, to Sunday, January 19.
However, on January 20, Monday, the first auspicious day in the Tamil month of Thai, the sub-registrar offices with one sub-registrar would issue 150 tokens as against the normal 100 tokens to enable more people register properties and in offices with two sub-registrars 300 tokens would be issued against the regular 200.
Also, the four additional tatkal tokens would be issued over the usual 12 for a day, the official press release said.
