Removal of DMK from power, the sole agenda: EPS
Chennai: Removing the DMK from power in the State was the prime agenda of the AIADMK and to achieve that it would align with any like-minded party but not the BJP, Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Thursday.
Speaking to mediapersons at Krishnagiri, where he had gone to inaugurate a wedding hall, Palaniswami refuted the perception that the popularity of the AIADMK had declined in the State by quoting statistical data and said that the DMK’s vote share had gone down.
While the AIADMK’s vote share went up by one per cent in the 2024 Parliament elections in comparison to the votes polled in the 2019 elections, the DMK registered a 7 per cent drop in votes, he claimed.
He had given a call only to like-minded parties for an alliance, he said, adding that there was no change in his stand on having no tie-up with the BJP.
Palaniswami expressed his resentment over the media repeatedly raising the same question on alliance though he had been making it clear that the AIADMK will not align with the BJP again.
Accusing the DMK of not completing the projects launched by the AIADMK during its tenure, he said that for the few schemes that were not stopped, the DMK government gave its name and appropriated the credit.
Most of the schemes were dumped by the DMK after it came to power as it did not want to give the due credit to the AIADMK for envisaging them. Actually, the OLA electric scooter project was a dream child of the AIADMK, he said.
