Results Say That Dictatorship Has No Support: CM M K Stalin
Chennai: The results of the Lok Sabha elections, in which the DMK-led alliance has made a clean sweep by winning all the 40 seats in the State and the neighboring Union Territory of Puducherry, pointed to the total lack of support among the people for an autocratic dictatorial form of government in the country, Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Wednesday.
In his epistle to party workers, Stalin pointed out that the rejection of communal forces that had tried to make political gains out of people’s religious beliefs and the faithful forcing those who built temples to bite the dust in their own land had taken away the fears that hitherto lurked in the minds of the minorities in the country.
By lifting all the 40 seats they contested, the DMK and its allies had reined in dictatorship, enabling the sprouting of hopes for a democratic revival and given the promise of the INDIA coalition setting out to undertake the task of protecting the safeguards provided by the Constitution of India, he said, thanking the cadre for the hard work that they had put in to ensure the overwhelming victory.
That democracy had been upheld and protected was indicated by the results that had provided near equal representation for the ruling NDA and the INDIA coalition in Parliament and by making it evident that the people had lost confidence in the party that had high hopes of winning a majority on its own, he said.
Urging the cadre to shun ostentatious celebrations and mark the massive victory through action plans, addressing the needs of the people and assuring them that their voice would be heard in Parliament through the representatives they had elected, he said the elections result was the people’s certificate for the good work done by the DMK government in the past three years.
Acknowledging the coordinated efforts put in by the leaders, functionaries and cadre of all the alliance parties that enabled the victory, which he had first proclaimed – all 40 ours - as a goal way back in 2022 at Virudhunagar and then followed it up with a series of action plans like meeting with agents and booth committee members in five regions of the State, he said those systematic efforts had put the cadre ready for war anytime.
It was the clear and focused strategy that helped in the victory, he said, adding that the DMK did not indulge in hate campaigns but took across the message to the people that it wanted to convey in a straightforward manner.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders of the BJP who praised Tamil from every platform had done things that were detrimental to the language and the people of the State in the last 10 years and that was explained to the people in a succinct manner, he said.
The people were also told that only the INDIA coalition could fight fascism and redeem democracy, besides protecting the principles of pluralism, secularism and social justice, he said
