Stalin in India Today’s High and Mighty list

Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin figures in the ‘High and Mighty’ list, published by India Today magazine, for setting a goal of turning the State into a ‘US $ One Trillion economy’ by 2030 and also ensuring that not a single seat in the last Lok Sabha elections went to the BJP, much to the national party’s chagrin.

The power list has only five Chief Ministers in the country, besides the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, with Stalin taking the eight place.

Announcing the list in its latest issue, dated November 11, India Today acknowledged Stalin attracting industrial investments to the State, which had touched Rs 9.74 lakh crore from over 130 conglomerates that include Fortune 500 companies.

Though his voice might not be heard in the northern States in view of his lack of knowledge of Hindi, in his exemplary popularity in his traditional homeland of Tamil Nadu has ensured that his voice reached the power corridors of New Delhi, the magazine said.

Stating that he held the Southern Fort of the country in his grip, the magazine said that his party, the DMK, had 22 Lok Sabha members and 10 Rajya Sabha members the coalition led by him won 70 per cent of the votes in the last Parliament election.
