Stalin to fight against Waqf Act amendment
Stalin to approach SC against Waqf Act amendment

Chennai: The DMK would legally fight against the passing of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha on Thursday with 288 members voting in favour of it and 232 members voting against it as the new act would destroy the autonomy of the Waqf Board and threaten the minority Muslim community in the country, Chief Minister M K Stalin said.
Addressing the members of the Assembly on Thursday, Stalin recalled the resolution passed in the House on March 27 demanding the withdrawal of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in Parliament and regretted that it was passed in the wee hours with the support of some alliance parties.
Wearing a black badge to the House, along with other DMK MLAs, to express their protest against the passing of the Bill, Stalin vowed to fight against the new Act and also win the fight.
The assault on the Constitution would be prevented through legal means, he said, adding that the passing of the amendment would imperil secularism in the country, he said.
