Tamil Nadu: BJP targets actor Vijay, slams lottery politics
Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad on Saturday criticized actor Vijay and the state’s political system, urging the public to reject "lottery politics" and corporate influence. Prasad called for a shift towards development-focused governance, accusing certain political and corporate entities of exploiting the poor.
In an official statement, Prasad urged actor Vijay to distance himself from political schemes tied to lottery-funded events. “Actor Vijay must recognize the political schemes associated with events funded by lottery money that exploit and deceive the poor,” he said, also advising the actor to align with individuals promoting Dr. BR Ambedkar’s principles.
Prasad criticized what he described as "corrupt parties, dynastic politics, and separatist ideologies," calling on the public to remain vigilant during the 2026 Assembly elections. He accused lottery tycoons of exploiting vulnerable families in Tamil Nadu and condemned corporate politicians profiting from illicit wealth.
He also targeted Adhav Arjuna, a lottery company owner featured in a video shown at the "Leader for All: Ambedkar" book launch event. Prasad alleged that Arjuna, a key player in the DMK's 2021 election campaign with the support of Prashant Kishor's I-PAC organization, is now hypocritically opposing the DMK.
“Arjuna’s recent claims are insincere. His failed attempts to secure political power reveal an ulterior motive to protect his massive lottery wealth,” Prasad said, referencing Arjuna’s unsuccessful bids for parliamentary tickets from the DMK and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK).
Prasad emphasized the BJP's stance against dynastic politics and declared confidence in the party's victory in the 2026 elections. He stated that the BJP, as the world's largest party, is committed to bringing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of governance to Tamil Nadu.
“The people are ready for a golden era under Modi’s leadership,” Prasad concluded.
