Tamil Nadu Govt Inks Major MoUs to Boost Electronics Sector

Chief Minister Stalin signs MoUs with Jabil, Rockwell, and Autodesk for electronics manufacturing and skill development, creating 5000+ jobs.

Chennai: In continuation of the MoU signing spree in Chicago, agreements were inked, in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin, with Jabil Inc for setting up a Rs 2000 crore electronics-making unit in Trichy, generating 5000 jobs, and with Rockwell Automation for expanding their electronics manufacturing unit in Kanchipuram at a cost of Rs 666 crore to create on Monday.

Another MoU was signed by the Tamil Nadu Government with Autodesk, a Fortune 500 company, for enhancing the skills of the youth to improve the competitiveness of MSMEs and startups in the industrial ecosystem of Tamil Nadu, an official press release on Tuesday said.

Autodesk is an American multinational corporation, providing software products and services for architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, education, and entertainment industries and employing over 14,000 workers worldwide. The company’s executive vice president, Jeff Kinder, and vice president Ken Foo were present at the MoU signing event.

Jabil Inc, a leading provider of electronics manufacturing services and solutions to major companies such as Apple, Cisco, HP, and Dell, has manufacturing units in China, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, and the USA. Jabil is a Fortune 500 company.

The Fortune 500 Company signed a MoU with the Tamil Nadu Government for setting up the electronics manufacturing unit in Trichy with the company executive vice president, Matt Crowley, senior director Nitu Sinha and PJ Farrenkopf.

Rockwell Automation is one of the world’s largest companies in industrial automation and digital transformation, with its corporate headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by its chairman and CEO Blake Moret, senior vice president Robert Buttermore, vice president Ed Moreland, and director Muthukumaran Pichai.

Since the State Government is continuously implementing various schemes with the objective of fully utilising the state's vast resources, promoting industrial growth, and ensuring a better quality of life for the people, Tamil Nadu has emerged as a leading state in India across various economic indicators.

To sustain the progress, by attracting large-scale investments, creating more jobs, particularly for the youth and women, the government, under the leadership of Stalin, is actively working to make Tamil Nadu a trillion US dollar economy by 2030. The present official visit to the USA to promote industrial growth and create job opportunities is part of that initiative.

During this visit, MoUs worth Rs 4350 crore were signed with 14 leading global companies at San Francisco and Chicago and senior officials from various leading companies worldwide were invited to invest in Tamil Nadu.
