Vijay Promises 75 % Jobs In Private Sector To Tamil Youth

Vijay will be going against DMK's sitting MLA RD Shekar, who will contest from Perambur. He is also pitted against the sitting MLA and DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj in Trichy East

Chennai: Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay on Sunday announced that his party would take steps to provide 75 per cent of the jobs in the private sector in Tamil Nadu to Tamil youth by providing concessions to companies. This is one of the long-time demands of Tamil nationalist outfits who allege that the rising investments and rapid industrialisation of the State is not benefiting Tamil youth.

Vijay said under the ‘Mudhalvar Makkal Sevai Nanbar’ scheme, five lakh youth would be employed at Rs. 18,000 per month in urban and rural local bodies to provide government services to the people at their doorstep. They would act as a connection network between the people and the government, he added.
Releasing the election manifesto for youth at a private hotel in Chennai, Vijay said his government would implement the ‘Nam Ooril Namakkey Velaivaippu scheme’, companies which provide 75 per cent of jobs to Tamil youth would be provided 2.5 per cent reduction in the State GST and five percent concession in the electricity tariff besides priority in government procurement.
Vijay’s announcement follows a similar promise in the AIADMK election manifesto assuring 75 per cent of jobs in the private sector to Tamils. Going a step further, AIADMK ally AMMK has promised 85 percent of private jobs in Tamil Nadu to the local youth. The demand was initially made by Thamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi leader T. Velmurugan who quit the DMK front alleging that the ruling party is not accepting his ten-point demands including priority for Tamils in private industries.
He said “The TVK candidates belong to ordinary families in Tamil Nadu. When you vote for them, you will be voting for yourself. Dear people, give us one chance to fight against the injustice meted out to Vijay who entered politics to ensure justice for you. Give us one chance for the future of Tamil Nadu. I have left everything in my life and enduring all pains to express my gratitude and repay my debts to you. Give one chance to your brother Vijay, son Vijay”, he said.
Vijay further announced Rs. 4,000 as monthly relief for unemployed graduates and Rs. 2,000 per month for diploma holders if they did not get jobs after the age of 29, adding it would help them in their efforts to search for jobs. He said five lakh intern jobs would be provided each year by the joint efforts of the government and private companies, adding Rs. 10,000 per month would be provided by the government for graduates and Rs. 8,000 for ITI diploma holders. This would reduce the cost of training youth for jobs and encourage the recruitment of locals by the companies, he said.
The actor said his government would ensure loans without collateral security up to Rs. 20 lakh for higher studies till Ph.D. A standard job recruitment schedule for State government jobs would be prepared, and severe laws would be enacted to prevent drugs and create a drug-free Tamil Nadu. He reiterated that the Assembly election would be a healthy democratic contest between Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s alliance and the TVK.
