TN CM Stalin Releases Manifesto for Chennai City

The six-point document promises upgraded amenities, 1,000 new mini-buses, and AI-enabled transport management to reduce congestion and cut travel time

Chennai: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday released the Chennai manifesto titled ‘Chennai Super-6, promising RO purified drinking water to areas without pipe connection, completion of all the metro rail projects within the year 2028 and 1,000 minibuses to connect the railway and metro stations.

A special centre would be formed for Artificial Intelligence, visual effects, gaming and immersion technology with an investment of Rs. 10,000 crore to provide jobs for 20,000 people. A global talent gateway would be formed with world class infrastructure, high quality skill development skills, and a research centre to generate jobs paying high salaries.
The manifesto said the drinking water supply to the houses which already have pipe connections would be regularised and street lights in all the residential areas. A unique world class cultural centre for arts, music and literature would be set up in Chennai, the DMK said. The party promised to operate 1,000 additional mini buses in the city to connect the metro and railway stations.
Artificial Intelligence would be used for traffic management to bring down the traffic congestion and reduce the travel time by 25 percent. Ten major road schemes including the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road connecting Ennore with Pooncheri would be completed within 2027. All the metro expansion works would be completed within the year 2028, the party said.
The party said the storm water drains in the city within the year 2028 and all underground drainage works would be finished by 2027. The roads in the city would have world class facilities and they would be beautiful with wide pavements and trees besides toilet facilities for all.
Coming out with a solution to the problem of street dogs, the party said the number of veterinary doctors and dog catching squads would be tripled to carry out birth control operations for the animals. Besides, expanded homes for the dogs would be formed with the support of NGOs.
