TN CM Stalin says ‘sorry’ for being late, tells teachers to believe him

Chennai: It was perhaps a ‘going back to school’ moment for Chief Minister M K Stalin as he faced a piquant situation when he had to say ‘sorry’ for being late and also give an excuse trying to explain that it was not his fault at all to not just one teacher but to hundreds of them who had gathered to listen to him on Saturday at Cuddalore.
Like an embarrassed school boy coming up with lame excuses for turning up late for class, the Chief Minister told the crowd that the real reason for his delay in reaching the venue of the Parent Teacher Association meeting was the sea of humanity that flooded the road that he took from Neyveli and mentioned that he felt odd to say that to the teachers present there.
Stalin said that he started from Neyveli at 8.30 am hoping to make it to Cuddalore in an hour’ time but could not as crowds had gathered to meet him and greet him en route in large numbers. So he had to meet the people and even briefly interact with some of them which delayed his journey.
The local people of Neyveli were taken by surprise when Stalin hopped off his car when he visited the town and mingled with the people waiting to see him. He obliged for selfies with students and youth and even grown up men were seen surging towards him to shake hands.
In Neyveli, he walked through the crowd for at least two kilometres much to the delight of the common people who enjoyed hobnobbing with the Chief Minister freely without security hassles.
