TN CM Vijay in Delhi, Visits Prez Murmu, Will Meet Rahul, Sonia Gandhi

The CM Vijay is set to attend the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting in Delhi in his second official visit to the national capital since assuming office

Chennai: All eyes are now set on Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, who will be delivering his maiden address at a national forum by speaking at the 11th Governing Council meeting of the NITI Aayog at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi on Thursday.

The agenda of the Governing Council’s meeting is anchored around four key areas –foundational human capital and future-ready skills, productive employment, entrepreneurship and decentralized growth, health, nutrition and wellbeing and equity and dignity for all.

Arriving in New Delhi by a special flight on Wednesday, Vijay called on the President of India Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a mark of respect, besides meeting Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi.

Vijay, who also held discussion with Rahul Gandhi, earlier accepted the guard of honour by police at the Tamil Nadu House in the national capital. The Chief Minister was welcomed by the State Chief Secretary M Sai Kumar and Additional Chief Secretary R Jaya when he arrived at Tamil Nadu House.

Since Vijay, in his earlier visit to New Delhi as Chief Minister on May 27, could not meet congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, this time he ensured that he had enough time to call on the leaders of the alliance parties by making it a three-day trip.

After completing his engagements in New Delhi that includes the Niti Aayog meeting, to be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by Chief Ministers of other States, Vijay would leave New Delhi on Friday morning and reach Mangalore, where he will be reportedly visiting a temple. Later, on Friday, he is scheduled to return to Chennai in the evening.
