Udhay urges women to take the plunge in business

Chennai: State Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin, urged women to boldly take the plunge into business and succeed as entrepreneurship as anyway waiting to learn swimming before jumping into the water would not ever be able to swim.

Addressing a government function at Ya Oothakadi panchayat in East Panchayat union in Madurai district on Monday, Stalin said Tamil Nadu was in the forefront of women’s development under the rule of the Dravidian parties as 42 per cent of the women work force is from the State.

The Minister presented links for Rs 2874.26 crore worth bank loans, given under the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Limited, to 3,74,77 women attached to 31,220 self-help groups (SHGs) and also gave away 12,233 free house pattas to beneficiaries from 1013 SHGs at the event.

He said that links for bank loans worth Rs 2,900 crore were being given to 3.74 lakh women from 31,000 SHGS all over the State the same day and in Madurai district alone benefits worth Rs 298 crore under government welfare schemes were being disbursed to 25,000 beneficiaries.
