Chennai: The DMK legislative party elected Udhayanidhi Stalin as its leader in the Assembly thus making him the Leader of the Opposition in the State on Sunday.
The meeting of DMK legislators was held at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, at 5.30 pm on Sunday ahead of the swearing in of the newly elected MLAs on Monday.
The DMK also elected K N Nehru as the deputy leader of its legislative party and E V Velu as the whip.
Since the DMK has emerged as the principal opposition in the Assembly, its leader in the House would be the Leader of the Opposition.
