Vijay appropriates C N Annadurai
Chennai: Two days after blasting the DMK for terming the BJP as an embodiment of ‘fascism’ and even mockingly asking if they were then ‘payasam,’ founder president of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, sought to appropriate a legacy of DMK founder C N Annadurai through a letter to his cadre, the first one after holding his maiden political conference near Vikravandi that marked the formal launch of his party.
Describing letter writing in politics as a powerful weapon handed over by Annadurai to the people of the State, he said he had picked up the system of letters to cadre and that the present one was the fourth letter he was writing to communicate with them the details relating to the just concluded political conference.
Thanking all those who were behind the success of the conference on Sunday at V Salai village in Villupuram district, including the farmers who gave land for setting up the venue and those who erected the structures there, he said he was touched by the gesture of lakhs of hearts standing in unison for their own son of soil.
He said that he had undertaken the political journey to uplift his followers, along with the people of the State, adding that his cadre abided by every instruction that was given to them and thus acted responsibly at the conference maintaining discipline and dignity. Though seeds for the politics to retrieve the rights of the people had been sown at the conference, much to the satisfaction of the people of the State, those who criticized them would continue to do so but they should take only the constructive advice, if any, from them and ignore the rest, Vijay told his cadre.
Assuring them that the people of the State would themselves guide them to the rightful place, he urged the TVK cadre, who had been welcomed warmly by the people with a kind heart, to strive hard for the welfare of the people. Ensuring the provision of basic necessities to the people alone should be their politics, hereafter, he said.
The cadre should intensify their politics only to implement the aspiration to provide the basic necessities to the people and work hard to satisfy the people and gain their confidence and gratitude, which would help them taste victory, he said. Vijay told his cadre to work towards winning the elections in 2026 by taking up only constructive politics.
