Chennai:Beneficiaries of the ‘Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai,’ the Rs 1000 per month assistance given to women, would be paid ahead of time in view of Pongal festival this month and 1,14,61,000 women would have the amount credited in their bank accounts immediately, an official press release said.
Similarly, the distribution of Pongal gift packages for family card holders, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister M K Stalin at a ration shop in Little Mount on Thursday, would be carried out without any break and the fair price shops would be open on Friday, the government announced.
A total of 2,30,94,585 family cardholders and residents of the rehabilitation camps for Sri Lankan Tamils would receive the gift hamper comprising a kg of raw rice, a kg of sugar and one full length sugarcane, besides free dhotis and sarees.
