Hyderabad: Rupa Devi, the wife of Choppadandi Congress MLA Dr. Medipalli Satyam, died by suicide. The incident took place on Thursday night at their residence in Panchasila Colony, Alwal.
Rupa Devi was found hanging. The incident came to light when the family members broke open the door after lack of response from her. The reason behind her suicide is yet to be ascertained.
Rupa Devi was a government school teacher in Medchal Munirabad, and married Medipalli Satyam 12 years ago. The couple had been living in Deveriya Villas in Pet Basheerabad, Kompally, before recently moving to Panchashila Colony, Alwal.
She is survived by son, Yojith, 11 and daughter, Rishika Sri 9. It is learnt that the couple had been experiencing marital discord for some time.
MLA Medipalli Satyam, devastated by his wife's death, fainted and was admitted to Renova Hospital in Kompally. Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar visited the hospital to offer his condolences and moral support the grieving MLA.
The police have started an investigation into her unnatural death. The woman's body was taken to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.
