Telangana: Rain-hit homeless await govt aid
ADILABAD: The people of many villages whose houses were collapsed or damaged due to heavy rains accompanied by gales two days ago are seeking assistance from the state government in the Adilabad district. Most of the people affected by thunderstorms were in the Talamadugu mandal.
Rooftops of many houses were damaged while some huts were collapsed in Jhari, Punaguda, Mandaguda and Umri (T) villages in the Talamadugu mandal.
The standing crops also got damaged by the untimely rains with strong winds. Adivasi women in the area were seen collecting their utensils which were flown away to long distances by gales.
The victims appealed to the state government to sanction immediate relief and pay compensation for the damaged crops and sanction Indiramma houses as a top priority. On the other hand, trees fell on the roads following the heavy rains with gales blocking the movement of the traffic at various places in the tribal areas in the erstwhile Adilabad district.
In some places, villagers removed the fallen trees off the road to make way for traffic flow on main roads in the area.
