Telangana: Rs 320 Crore Lined up for Adilabad Civic infrastructure

Adilabad: The Adilabad municipality will soon have an underground drainage system and OHSR tanks for drinking water supply at an estimated cost of Rs 320 crore since the civic body was upgraded to grade one municipality.

Adilabad BJP MLA Payal Shankar said they will start works on underground drainage and OHR tanks in two months. Drainage water enters into Khanapur tank which was once a water body and is now heavily encroached. He said the future of Adilabad town depends on Khanapur tank.

The tank is spreading bad smell and becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes. With drainage water entering the Khanapur tank, it gets polluted and it is high time the tank was restored by stopping the flow of drainage water into it.

He said people should extend their full support for the development of the civic body. He asked people they can lodge complaints with collector, municipal commissioner and tahasildar if they find encroachments of government land.

The central and state governments are contributing funds to the underground drainage system.

Out of Rs 320 core, Rs 225 crore would be spent on the construction of the underground drainage system while Rs 95.50 core will be spent on the construction of overhead tanks in slums.

Payal Shankar said the civic body would be developed with the joint contributions of the state and central governments.
