Telangana Street Vendors Demand Licenses and Social Security Benefits

Hyderabad: The Telangana Street Vendors and Hawkers Union and the Hawkers Joint Action Committee demanded vending licences, ESI, PF and Maan Dhan cash for six lakh street vendors of the state. Committee national president Dharmendra Kumar said that street vendors were the backbone of the informal economy, and a crucial link between farmers, MSMEs and consumers. He said that street vendors are the most visible urban workers, but are still not recognised, documented and protected.
