Hyderabad: Food and civil supplies minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy will be the chairman of the Cabinet sub-committee to examine and recommend the eligibility criteria and modalities for issue of new food security (ration) cards and health cards. of the committee.
Ministers Damodar Rajanarsimha and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy will be members of the committee. Principal secretary to the government, consumer affairs, food and civil supplies department, will be the convener.
Ration cards were not issued for 10 years by the previous BRS government. Even deletions and additions of names in the ration cards were not allowed. This had left many newly married couples and their kids in the lurch.
Denial of ration cards also resulted in the people being denied government schemes linked to ration cards. The BRS had issued a few cards during the Huzurabad and Munugode by lections only in these constituencies.
