Suryapet: As inflows to the irrigation project have increased, 13 radial gates of Pulichintala project were lifted by the irrigation officials, who also released 2.8 lakh cusecs of water to the downstream.
Inflows increased to 2,92,462 cusecs after 22 gates of Nagarjunasagar project were lifted. TSGENCO has started generation of 80 MW of power through four units in Pulichintala power house. It was also planned to generate power at its full level of 120 MWs after the water in the project reached full tank level (FTL).
Project assistant engineer Deshya Naik said that presently 10,000 cusecs of water was being used by the Pulichintala power plant to generate electricity. The water level in the project stood at 168 feet as against the FTL of 175 feet. The current water storage was 36.78 TMCs as against the gross storage capacity of 45.77 TMCs, Naik said.
