HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to speed up the construction of new hospitals and complete work on 15 nursing college buildings within the next year. The nursing colleges, he stressed, should begin operations this year out of temporary arrangements made in rented buildings until the new facilities are ready.
This directive came during the first review meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, focused on the SPEED (Smart Proactive Efficient and Effective Delivery) initiative, a high-priority development plan by the state government.
The meeting was attended by health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, Chief Secretary A. Shanti Kumari, and senior officials.
Among the 19 key projects discussed, the Chief Minister highlighted the construction of 15 nursing colleges, 28 paramedical colleges, and the establishment of buildings for women self-help groups (SHGs) at all district headquarters.
The Chief Minister decided to allocate one acre of land for each women's SHG building in the 22 district headquarters where such facilities are yet to be constructed. He noted that buildings for women SHGs exist in 10 district headquarters. He ordered officials to identify and acquire suitable land for these projects promptly.
Revanth Reddy also directed that the three acres of land previously allotted to Mahila Shakti Sanghams next to Shilparamam in Hyderabad be transferred immediately to the relevant department.
He envisioned this area as a vibrant hub for showcasing products made by Mahila Shakti Sanghams throughout the year, with plans to transform it into a must-visit destination for international guests, dignitaries, and national leaders visiting Hyderabad.
