20 Musi Riverbed Families Shifted to 2BHK Homes, Relieved from Struggles

Hyderabad: Twenty families living in tiny sheds on the Musi riverbed were shifted to state government’s 2BHK houses in Chanchalguda and Ziaguda on Friday. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, they recalled their struggles and said that their lives would undergo a major change in the new premises.

Mohd Sadiq Qureshi, who stayed in a one-room tenement at Shankarnagar Basti, said: "I am excited to visit my new home. I hope there won't be any bureaucratic hurdles in future related to this property.”

Mohd Raheem, resident of a similar unit Malakpet, said that his family of six had been living under a tin roof for decades. "I'm extremely happy to finally give my family a house that has enough room for all of us," he said.

Ghousuddin, another beneficiary said that, that the government was working actively to help the people living near Musi with the fear of vector-borne diseases. “The MRO and other officials were very friendly. They called us in the evening and informed us that a double-bedroom was being allotted to us,” he said.
