20 NSUI, Youth Cong. members vandalise BRS office
Yadadri-Bhongir: Around 20 members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and Youth Congress stormed the BRS office in Bhongir on Saturday, vandalising office furniture in a display of political unrest.
The incident was triggered by controversial remarks made by BRS leaders K. Ramakrishna Reddy and Pailla Shekar Reddy during a recent media conference, where they criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The comments quickly went viral on social media, inciting anger among NSUI and Youth Congress supporters who retaliated by targeting the BRS district office.
Upon receiving reports of the attack, Bhongir police intervened, detaining the NSUI and Youth Congress members and relocating them to the local police station for further action.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao took to Twitter (now X) to strongly condemn the assault. "During the 10 years of BRS governance, Telangana enjoyed peace and stability. Under Congress rule, the state has become a hotspot for anarchy," Rama Rao tweeted, demanding the arrest of Congress leaders who he alleged orchestrated the attack.
The attack has further inflamed political tensions in the region, with images circulating on social media showing NSUI and Youth Congress members involved in the vandalism alongside photographs of them with Chief Minister, minister for roads and buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Bhongir MLA Kubam Anil Kumar. The images have fuelled debates and discussions within BRS-supporting social media groups.
Local authorities are investigating the motives behind the attack and assessing the extent of the damages.
