Hyderabad: A local court in Rajendranagar sentenced a private preschool principal and a gymnastics coach to 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) in connection with a POCSO case registered against them.

Ranga Reddy district Special Judge for Trial and Disposal of Rape and POCSO Act Cases, T. Srinivas, convicted the accused K Kiran Sai (31), a gymnastics coach and C Deepika (37), a private preschool principal, and sentenced them to 20 years RI, said A. Muthyam Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crimes, Cyberabad, in a press release.

He said the court has also imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 on Sai and Rs.1,000 on Deepika. On June 27, 2019, the police received a complaint from a three and a half year girl’s father, who said that his daughter exhibited abnormal behavior after attending preschool. The girl reportedly refused to go to school, claiming that the coach violated her.

When the school van got delayed in arriving to school on June 20, the coach took her to gymnastic room on top floor of the school and violated her. When she screamed, the coach left her on the ground floor and fled.

Due to the negligence of the principal, the coach took a chance and committed the crime on the school premises, the DCP said. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against them. During the investigation, the police arrested the coach and the principal and after completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed against them.
