250 kids rescued under Operation Smile

These initiatives focus on identifying and rescuing children engaged in various sectors.

Warangal/ Ramagundam: The police commissionerates of Warangal and Ramagundam successfully completed Operation Smile-XI, a major child rescue initiative in the region, and rescued 250 children (162 in Warangal and 88 in Ramagundam) in Warangal and Peddapalli districts.

A statement released separately by Warangal Police Commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha and Ramagundam Police Commissioner M. Srinivas on Saturday stated that as part of their efforts to end child labour in the region, officials conduct Operation Smile and Operation Muskaan twice a year.
These initiatives focus on identifying and rescuing children engaged in various sectors.
When officials found the children working in these conditions, they immediately intervened by offering counselling to the parents and ensuring the children are safely reunited with their families. In cases where this is not possible, children were sent to state-run homes for their care and protection.
They hailed the collective efforts of departments for their commitment to child protection and social welfare measures and ensuring success of the operation.
They emphasised that the responsibility to protect child rights lies with everyone in the community and called for continuous efforts to eliminate child labour. They urged people to pass on information of any incidents of children being forced into work or missing by calling Child Helpline at 1098 or dialing 100.
Strict action will be taken against those found guilty of exploiting children, they warned.
