26 MLAs in touch with BJP: Bandi Sanjay

Karimnagar: Twentysix MLAs were are in touch with the BJP, but the saffron party would never allow them to join without resigning from the Assembly first, unlike the BRS and the Congress, Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay said.

Speaking to media here on Sunday, the minister said there was no possibility of taking leaders from other parties who are facing Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) cases. The BJP does not encourage corruption and corrupt leaders, he said.

The Congress had made K. Keshava Rao resign his Rajya Sabha seat when he defected, he said and asked why this was not enforced on MLAs and MLCs who joined the party. If the Congress government was confident that it was giving good governance, it must make the defectors resign and face bypolls.

Speaking about the meeting of the Telugu Chief Ministers, Sanjay alleged that former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had deliberately delayed resolving issues between the two states regarding the bifurcation.

But Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and N. Chandrababu Naidu had met in a cordial atmosphere. If they went ahead with commitment, then there was a possibility to find solution of all issues between both the states, he opined.

The selection of state chief post for BJP is in the hands of the leadership. There is no rule that the state chief post should not be given to a new leader. There are different situations in different states. The selection of the state chief post will depend on the situations of the particular state.

The Union minister assured that there is a possibility of development of Ellanthakunta and Kondagattu temples in the name of Ramayana Circuit along with Vemulawada temple under the PRASAD scheme. He said the state government should send a proposal for this.

He said a survey is in progress for the laying of railway lines between Hasanparthy Road and Karimnagar. Very soon a decision will be taken in this regard.

The smart city project time limit was not increased because of the request made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Since the central government received appeals from states like Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh for increasing the time limit for completing the smart city project, the BJP government increased the time limit, he added.
