27 Govt. employees trapped in bribe cases in Telangana in Nov. 2024

Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered 17 trap cases and one case of Disproportionate Assets (DA) in November 2024.

As many as 27 government employees and three outsourcing employees were trapped and arrested before sending them to judicial remand. An amount of Rs.3.54 lakh was seized in the trap cases of various departments - Panchayat Raj, Education, Police, Municipal, TGSPDCL, Revenue, GHMC, Commercial Tax, Survey and Land Records, and Irrigation, officials said.

In one DA case related to Irrigation department official, the assets worth Rs. 17.73 crore were unearthed. The bureau secured convictions in three trap cases related to Jilagam Venkateswara Rao, a Senior Assistant of GHMC in Rajendranagar, after trapping him in 2013.

The special court for ACB cases convicted him on November 7 and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay a fine of Rs.20,000. Similarly, the court convicted Thogun Pochalah, a Deputy Commercial Tax Officer of Mancherial Circle in erstwhile Adilabad district on November 12 and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and to pay a fine of Rs.3,000. He was trapped in 2013, according to officials.

The Nizamabad Assistant Engineer (AE) P. Ashok, who had been trapped in 2012, was convicted on November 13, and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and pay a fine of Rs.20,000.

The ACB asked the people to call its toll-free number-1064 in case of demand of bribe by any public and also post on X (@TelanganaACB) and Facebook (telanganaacb) platform for taking action as per law.
