343 Midwifery Nurses Assigned to Telangana Hospitals
Hyderabad: The state government has allowed the appointment of 343 nurse practitioners in midwifery (NPMs) in government hospitals on work order basis. Of the 354 NPMs trained, seven have been posted in Gurukul schools of the education department, one in Khammam has expired and three have been trained as midwifery educators.
The NPMs will be posted in facilities where more than 50-100 deliveries are conducted per month to help them showcase their expertise in conducting normal births, while also ensuring that at least three NPMs are posted in each facility based on the delivery load.
Further, the government has also permitted the posting of 22 midwifery educators (MEs) in two State Midwifery Training Institutes (SMTIs) located in the Government Colleges of Nursing in Somajiguda and Rajanna Siricilla and the National Midwifery Training Institute (NMTI) in Government College of Nursing, Boyiguda.
NPMs doing night shift duties are also eligible for night duty allowance as per norms and as given to other staff nurses. The posting of NPMs and MEs is purely on work order basis and shall be in effect from Wednesday.
