Hyderabad: Secunderabad Gurudwara Saheb was filled with colour and devotion as Sikhs took out a vibrant Nagar Keertan (holy procession) on Monday to celebrate the 555th Prakash Utsav, marking the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The procession featured captivating displays of Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art - alongside the recitation of Shabad Keertans (sacred hymns). The Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the revered Sikh scripture, was carried on a decorated vehicle, accompanied by bearers of the Nishan Saheb (religious flags), as the procession moved through Manohar Talkies, Clock Tower, Patny Circle, Kingsway, and Monda Market, before returning to the Secunderabad Gurudwara Saheb.

Secunderabad Gurudwara Saheb’s Parbandhak Committee president S. Baldev Singh Bagga, along with general secretaries S. Jagmohan Singh and Harpreet Singh Gulati, shared that the Nagar Keertan was a symbol of devotion and celebration. Youths from Punjab and Hyderabad performed Gatka demonstrations, showcasing skills with swords, kirpans, and other traditional weapons, drawing awe from onlookers along the procession route.

Adding to the festive spirit, a vehicle adorned with LED screens shared stories and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, giving devotees and passersby a glimpse into the life and legacy of the Sikh Guru.
