ACB Summons KTR in Formula E Race Case

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday asked BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao to appear at its office in Banjara Hills at about 10 am on January 6, in connection with the alleged scam in the holding of a Formula E race last year.

The ACB also served notices to senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and former HMDA officer B.L.N. Reddy, asking them to appear before them for questioning on January 11 and 12 respectively.

The ACB, which formed a team of officers comprising DSP rank officers as investigation officers, has collected details, documents, and other data pertaining to the issue from HMDA. The officials will question the accused in connection with the agreements with the UK-based Formula E Operations Limited (FEO), money transfers, approvals from government and the role of Arvind Kumar, who was special secretary, municipal administration, at that time.

ACB officials have already recorded statements of the complainant and IAS officer M. Dana Kishore, princicpal secretary, municipal administration. The ACB found irregularities in the conduct of the event in Hyderabad by tacitly transferring `54 crore HMDA funds to the UK firm from the Himayatnagar branch of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) without the approval of the Cabinet and devoid of finance department’s clearance.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials had served notices to Rao, Arvind Kumar and Reddy asking him to appear before the ED for questioning on January 7. It has now served a fresh notice asking them to appear on January 8 and 9, respectively.
