Adilabad: Ganapatis come in handy for BJP’s membership drive

ADILABAD: Ganapati festival and the religious activities at pandals in urban areas and villages came in handy for the BJP to attract youths into the party. The festival this time around coincided with the BJP’s party enrollment work.

Local BJP leaders take advantage of the festival and the gatherings at pandals to attract youths. The membership drive of the party, which began on September 8, will continue till this month end. There was a delay in the programme due to floods in Telangana.

He said members must give their personal details and phone numbers to enroll for the lucky lottery.

The party has given an enrollment target of 200 members for every polling booth and the membership is free. Local BJP leaders frequent the Ganesh pandals and insist on enrolment of youths.

Local youths gather at pandals and render free services to devotees who throng the Ganesh pandals. Koyyala Emaji, a state executive committee member of the BJP, launched membership drive in Kannepalli mandal headquarters in Bellampalli Assembly constituency in Mancherial on Wednesday.

He appealed to people, especially youths to join the BJP in large numbers to strengthen the party. While participating in the membership drive in Adilabad town, Armoor BJP MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy said there is a need for the youths and intellectuals to join the party.
