Adilabad: The Durga idol immersion processions, known as Shobha Yatras, concluded peacefully on Sunday in the communally sensitive towns of Bhainsa and Mudhole in Nirmal district. Elaborate security arrangements were implemented to prevent any untoward incidents during the festivities.
The Durga idols were immersed in the Gaddanna Vagu, located on the outskirts of the towns. The Shobha Yatra in Bhainsa began after local MLA Rama Rao Patel, superintendent of police Janaki Sharmila, and assistant superintendent of police Avinash Kumar performed special pujas at the Sarvajanik Durgamatha Pandal in Purana Bazaar.
Authorities had taken extra precautions given the history of communal tensions in the area. "We ensured that all necessary security measures were in place to facilitate a smooth and peaceful procession," said SP Janaki Sharmila.
Meanwhile, in Adilabad town, organisers and devotees conducted immersion processions for Goddess Sharada Devi's idols across various colonies. These events also proceeded without incident, reflecting a spirit of communal harmony during the festival season.
The successful conclusion of the Shobha Yatras has been welcomed by local communities and authorities alike. "The cooperation between the public and the administration was commendable," said a senior official. "We hope to continue this unity in future events."
