Hyderabad: The tourism department, in a public-private partnership, recently introduced four adventure water sports — jet skiing, kayaking, the jet attack ride and Zorbing — at Hussainsagar, with Lumbini Park as its port. People were thrilled to witness these water sports and showed keenness to try these activities.
A jet ski is a high-speed adventure ride that can carry one person along with the operator. Jet attack provides a self-drive experience. Zorbing is nothing but rolling around on a large inflatable roller on the ater. Kayaks involve paddling through water using a double-bladed paddle.
The price for a jet ski ride is Rs 500 per head, Rs 400 for a jet attack ride, Rs 100 for Zorbing (water roller) and Rs 250 for a Kayak ride.
“I had never tried water sports before, and this will be a cherished memory. It offers a unique experience for adventure lovers,” said A. Harsha, a tourist from Chennai, after experiencing the newly launched water sports.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Tarun Kakani, CEO of Amaravati Boating Club, said safety measures, including the provision of life jackets, and the operators are licensed and certified by the Yachting Association of India. “We have also secured public liability insurance for any casualties,” he added.
Azmath Hussain, a tourist who tried the jet attack ride, appreciated its self-drive feature, which allowed him to drive around the Buddha statue. Jagadesh, a visitor from Andhra Pradesh, mentioned his son’s excitement to try the new rides in Hyderabad after experiencing similar activities in Vijayawada. “He kept asking me to take him to the newly launched rides and he thoroughly enjoyed it,” he shared.
The water sports activities received a positive response within the week of launching, the manager of water sports noted.
