Advocate dies of heart attack while presenting case in Telangana High Court

The sudden demise of Rao led to most of the court work in the post noon session being put on hold

Hyderabad: Advocate Pusunooru Venugopal Rao collapsed and died of a heart attack while presenting a case before a single judge bench of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday. He was 66.

While arguing the case in the Court Hall No. 21, advocate Rao suddenly collapsed. Others in the court tried to revive him and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). He was then rushed to Osmania General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The sudden demise of Rao led to most of the court work in the post noon session being put on hold.

Venugopal Rao has been practicing advocacy in the High Court since 1998. After completion of LLB from the Nanded University, in 1983, he started the practice at Suryapet and Miryalaguda.

“He was friendly with his colleagues and always shared inputs and helped junior advocates,” said S. Gowtham, an advocate from the High Court.
